Sunroof wont open after replacing headliner 700 1990

I used one-eigth inch foam backed material as suiggested many times in these forums. I used it on both the main board and the sunroof. I stretched the material very taught and there is no material overlap at all. In other words, I made it as thin as possible with the material I was using.

So what now? If it won't work with one-eigth inch material what do I use? I'm sure I can't get unlined material to match the foam backed on the main headliner board, and I can see that unlined material won't work well on the main headliner board.

Thanks for replies
