My Volvo 740 GLE 700 1988

Hi guys,

Anybody able to offer me some advice... I have a problem with my Volvo 740 which I just recently purchased. It seems that there is a loss of power and a very loud noise that comes from somewhere near the passenger side near the undercarriage of the car - especially when I accelerate. I am not a complete fool when it comes to autos, so I would be under the impression that this is a hole in the muffler pipes, or a gasket problem. I checked the underneath of the car, and looked at the pipes, catalytic converter, etc... it all looked okay to me. Is this possibly the manifold or engine gasket? Any help would be greatly appreaciated as I am about to take the car to the shop.

Thanks in advance,
Iikka from Toronto.
