engine dies on deceleration 200 1987

This is my first try on these forum things, here goes: Have an automatic 240 1987 with 204k. Over the last two years she has developed a habit of stumbling/stopping when braking, particularly a hard stop. Once or twice a year, she doesn't start, I jumper the fuel pump relay and she starts ok.

I have cleaned the throttle body, pcv thing, replaced the fuel filter, air filter, Techronized the fuel. Checked vacuum hoses, as much as possible with bifocals.

Stalling has gotten worst, to the point it stalls consistently, but only on a fairly hard stop (I have occasionally thought it may also stumble in a sharp turn, but that may be in error).

Now for the zinger: over the last month or two it has developed a jet-engine
whistle, up or down with throttle, but the pitch changes very slowly. This is not consistent, only notice once a week or so. Maybe related, maybe not.

Hope this isn't too much info. Thanks for any help !
