automatic od selonoid 200

Hi all
My overdrive on my 83 240 automatic doesn't work. I replaced the relay, the shifter assy with the wires, & another selonoid. The light goes on & off & I have power to the selonoid wire (at least to 4" from the selonoid), but I can't hear of feel any clicking at the selonoid. Is it suppose to make any clicks or is it Quiet?. I'm off to pick a part to get another selonoid, but was wondering if I am missing something?
