'92 240 Starting Problems 200 1992

I have a 92 240 sedan that has 125k miles on it. The car starts and runs smoothly everytime when it is cool or has been sitting overnight (I live in Florida so it doesn't always get that cool). However if I turn the car off and try to restart it within a short period of time it will start and immediately stall. If I get on the gas pedal right away after I start it the engine will keep running, but as soon as I take my foot off the gas it will stall again. If I am quick enough to get the car in reverse or drive (automatic trans.) it will keep running without stalling.

I thought it might be a vapor lock problem, but then why does it work fine when I give it gas or put it in gear.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
