Need advice on bumper shocks 700 1989

Got rear ended yesterday on the way back from work by a Camry. Low speed collision. His car - bent hood, bent bumper, scratched paint. Mine - scratch on one corner.

I've inspected my bumper shocks. Seems one of it has been put into use and has retracted back into the original position as far as I could tell judging from the marks on the piston. They don't seem to be distorted/deformed in any way. Bumper still feels solid.

The archives mention something about needing to replace these if the oil in it breaks the seal or the label on it is torn. I had a good look and can't see any oil and the label on it - well on a 14 years old it's crumbling to pieces .. so can't rely on that

So should I get the Camry owner to replace my shocks? BTW he prefers to settle this not through the insurance co. (Here in M'sia we tend to that as it less of a hassle)

Thanks for any advice given.
