240 turbo alternator--options?

Well, thanks to the sage advice of the brick-boarders, my son and I have significantly improved the operation and maintainability of our 83 244Ti. The rotary A/C compressor and '92 PS pump have really smoothed things out--and now we can change belts w/o having to remove the crank pulley.

The next thing we'd like to take on is the alternator--I think the current one puts out 55 amps. Is there a higher output unit we could use without too much trouble? I'd like to avoid anything that requires new mounting plates, etc., because of the turbo. That said, I have a recently rebuilt 80-amp unit (from an 85?) sitting on the work-bench . . . .

Thanks in advance!

Steve Anderson
