Ridin High 700

The rear is sagging on my 85 740 GLE Diesel wagon, 170K on the clock, and it has hauled some heavy loads. I installed fresh variable rate coils, new gas shocks, and a rear sway bar for good measure. The back came up , but less than half an inch, at least my ride quality improved. In my quest for answers, I have parked next to and or measured over a dozen 70 and 900 cars. My rear sits a little lower than maybe half of them, but the front is 1 1/2" higher than any! Tires are 225-60-15 all the way around.
I have been to both Volvo specialty shops in town, and they had no advice for me besides not to heat the front springs. I do have the heavy turbodiesel engine, battery and radiator all up front in the stock location, and the car rides about 1" nose up(measued from the jack points to ground) unladen with 1/2 fuel. All heavy AC parts are still installed. The suspension appears stock and has undercoat all over
WHAT GIVES????
was there an optional taller ride height?
