Overdrive issue 900

My mother has a 93 940 that slips in and out of overdrive whenever it feels like it. When I try to press the overdrive button the little orange arrow goes off sometimes but stays on at other times. Could this be that the switch/and or relay is bad? And if so, if I needed to replace it, where is it located on the 940?
