Strange acceleration problem 700 1989

Hello Tim:

I've had that problem with my '89 760GLE-- usually a throttle body cleaning fixed it. If the butterfly is hanging up on deposits in the TB, then the throttle position sensor won't work correctly, resulting in symptoms just like yours. When the car is warm, the butterfly has cycled from open to closed several times, so it is less likely to occur.

It is worth a try-- it only costs a few bucks, assuming you replace the TB gasket...

Good luck!
