radio supression relay, fuel pump relay 700 1989

Hi

I just had a no start yesterday, and took off the radio supression relay (I think that is what its called, on the drivers strut tower). The relay looked fine, but after re-installing, the car started. I'm used to seeing really corruded fuel pump relays on early eighties 240's, and this relay was down right beautiful in comparison.

What usually goes wrong with the radio supression relay? I moved the relay arm a couple of times, and I'm wondering if it might have been jammed a little.

Also, I want to get an extra fuel pump relay. Is there a simple way to replace it? I seems kind of hard to get to. Can the lighter/storage tray right above the relays be removed easily to get access to the relays? Is that how most people get to the relays?

thanks

-Bruce
