I just removed a hose, and now I smell Gasoline! What did I do? 200 1980

I'm trying to get at my throttle body (question for another thread), and I've removed a hose I don't think I should have.

See photo (red arrows):

Normally, I'd just re-attach such a hose, but now the hose comes off way too easily for my liking. It was hard as hell to remove, and now it just wants to fall off. As soon as it came off, I could smell gasoline, which kind of made me stop and think for a minute...

How am I suppose to get this thing to stay attached? What exactly is it? Is a new hose in order?

Thanks, as always.
