Leaking sunroof 700 1990

Leaks through sunroof crank. Read post about laying in bead of RTV sealer in between rails of sunroof frame and sunroof pan.

Do you have to take sunroof off, or remove the headlier insert, or remove the whole pan to do this. Since the rails extend well back into the roof, seems you would have to remove the pan if you wanted to do the full length of the rails. Do you have to do the front of the frame as well? What kind of sealer is recommended? Permatex makes many.

Any other adice on this procedure?
