Auto tranmission delayed upshift with cold engine 900 1993

I have posted on this subject and had several advices. However, I am still faced with the problem of Drive when the engine is cold. Precisely, the gear just refused to upshift. If I tried to accelerate to change, the engine just roared with no change taking place. Now I usually warmed up the engine and drive on slowly until the upshift takes. As soon as the upshift from lst to 2nd happens, no other problems and function perfectly well. Have already adjusted the kick down cable, service the valve body. Of late, some suggested using Mobile One AFT will solve the problem. I would like to appeal those who have faced such similar problem to share their experiences with me. (I haven't try Mobile One AFT as the last AFT oil change was some 15,000km ago. I usually change every 40,000km or 25,000miles equivalent. I am tempted to try Mobile One AFT though not due for oil change but was advised that I would be throwing money away. Mechanics told me I need to rebuild the gearbox because delayed gear change when engine is cold is due to slip etc. But I have only 209,000km or 120,000miles equivalent. I hate to be taken for a ride by the mechanics).

If I were to believe the mechanics, why only when the engine is cold? As soon as the upshift takes place, the car drives perfectly well. I have now got used to it though admittedly not ideal. What is the best course of actions now? and consequences of not listening to the mechanics which I have my doubts. Do Mobile One AFT really fix the problem
