Weird squealing 200 1983

'83 244DL with an SU on her.
My baby makes a weird squealing sound when the accelerator is pressed half way, but not when it's less or more. The sound isn't RPM related, it seems like it only has to do with how hard your trying to go. Anybody know what's up? It started happening after it got new points, and i have a feeling the timing might be slightly off? it hesitates a bit too, i dunno if these are all related or not. Any help helps! thanks in advance.
