140 power steering. 140-160

140's came with power steering quite often. It has a clunky bunch of gear along with the power steering box: a pump, and idler pulley mount, a reservoir, some big black tubes. I had put it all in a covered bucket, but ignored it for years, and realized it had corroded solid. Scrapped it. Sorry.

Ball joint replacement made the biggest difference in steering in my '74 145. It's very light and solid now. I toy with finding a set of groovy Virgo mags and wider tires, but I'll only do that when I need the extra contact (new b20). I expect that won't warrant power steering either.

With the high center of gravity of the car, loading of the inside wheel will always be light, no matter what sway bars or shocks or tires are used. My 122 had 205-75-15s on it and steering was still pretty easy. I think that car had a less caster angle than others I've driven. It didn't center as readily, but it was tight.
