Repairs - do myself or have the shop do it 700 1989

I brought my 1989 Volvo 760 Turbo into the shop in order to get its annual state inspection. Was just called and told that the following needs to be done:

1. Replace front brakes and rotors (shop cost = $380)

2. Replace right lower ball joint and allignment (shop cost = $174)

3. Exhaust leak coming from where the turbo, manifold and head meet (no cost given, told to go to a Volvo dealership to get the work done).

Wanted to get people's opinions on whether these are repairs I can and should do myself or if I should just let the shop do them. From the FAQ, it looks like #1 and #2 I may be able to do myself but I don't know about #3.

Any suggestions/advice from this board would be greatly appreciated.
