impulse switch 200

hello all,
my 1990 240 died the other day...i had it towed to an independent mechanic who checked the fuel relay and a few other things...it still wouldn't start...the battery is fine but it wouldn't seem to crank up...he then unplugged the impulse switch, replugged it back in and it started...from there it seemed to be fine...my question is should i replace the impulse switch or should i take the risk that it was just loose or a bad connection and continue driving...the mechanic said it looks fine...he also said it could be the ignition switch...it's about $80 Canadian for the part and almost 1 hour of labour ($70) - apparently unscrewing the bolt is difficult)...is it worth the risk?

love my brick
