Pinging woes. 900 1995

About twice a year I get worked up about pinging. When I use regular gas my car pings initially when heavily under load (going up hill). Besdies always running higher grade fuel are there any things I should check? I was considering runing the water test ie., combustion chamber steam cleaning and see if that has any effect.

Any comments or suggestions welcomed.
