no start - ' 89 760 with b230ft motor 700

HI - new problem; need help.
Tried starting the car. Almost started as normal, but, after about 5 seconds turning the motor over; a "snap" and now no start. The starter engages and turns the motor over but slower (bright headlights); no start and it's not "trying" to start now as the motor turns.

Checked the fuses, thinking of the "snap" I heard (they are all good.)
No difference in the speed the motor turns over jumping the car (thought low battery but don't have my volt meter with me and curious about the "little bit slower motor turning over rate.)
Idiot lights all come on as normal while the starters turning the motor.

Is there an inline fuse I'm missing perhaps not in the fuse panel?
Thanks in advance for the help.
