radio/ speakers qeustion 200

First off thanks for all the information on the page. Ok here is the problem. I want to swith to a cd system, thanks to the guys who answered my post about that, but i want to make sure that the rest of my system is good first. When i turn on my radio in the morning it will only work for the first few minutes then it will go out. The radio is still on but no sound. If i smack the dash sometimes it will go back on for a couple more minutes. It is seeming ot get worst every day. Ok so here is the qeustion, is the problem the head unit radio/ tape player, or the wiring? And is there a way i can check this? I want to make sure that i'm not putting a new cd player into a system that still won't work. Thanks, Max
