Supporting Transmission

Good morning,

I plan on replacing the OD solenoid on my automatic, 88 245GL. I found it is difficult to fit a 12mm up in the housing without removing the tranmission support bracket. I could machine a wrench, but i'm not sure it would give me enough torque as these buggers are rusted on there pretty good. I don't want to support it by the pan because it probably isn't strong enough. What is the best way to temporarily support the aft end of the transmission while I replace the solenoid valve?

Thanks!
