keyless entry: locks but doesn't unlock 200 1992

Hello all, I installed a keyless entry system to my 240 today, and the system works (with a few minor problems, like the horn not chirping). Here's the deal. I installed a lock actuator to engage the locks, but I don't think the unit had enough power to actuate the plunger until I removed a spring that gave the lock some tension. That helped, so now it has enough power (with gravity) to lock the door (only the driver's side, it doesn't pull hard enough to hit the switch for all the doors), but not enough power to unlock the door. The actuator pushes the locking mech up, but JUST ever so slightly too short to actually unlock the door.

Is there something I can do to fix this, or am I just SOL?

If it matters, I used an Audiovox AA-925 system.

Thanks in advance,
Seth
