Damn, you're on the wrong coast.

I had to deal with sparkplug in the head nastyness in my sedan... and I would jump at the chance to get a car whose only flaw is a munged spark plug thread.

If you have a few friends with AAA, you could probably make the tow. Your other option would be to rent a not-intended-for-towing vehicle and use it for towing. Most rental agencies will rent SUVs and other mid-sized sedans... while not ideal, they would work for sure.. if you live near an airport you can probably find deals which include unlimited mileage.
