Headlights out , fixed. 200 1988

It's no fun to have your headlights go out when you need them.I had this happen last week, I serviced the Hi/Lo beam relay under the hood, with no headlights still,
then discovered there is another relay called the step relay by the steering column under the removable pad, anyway over time the connector had melted enough to insulate the power lead, #30, I polished the contacts on the relay and cleaned out the melted plastic of the #30 connector hole to ensure contact and voila, let there be headlights!I checked how hot the relay was getting after about 20 mins and it was just warm, which would seem to be fine. Hopefully this can save somebody some trouble.
