Jacking point question 700

I used the car jack to jack up the rear yesterday. I usually use my floor jack for such things but as I had the spare tire compartment open, I grabbed the car jack. I found, to my surprise that
a) The jack appeared to be not the original. The top point that meshes with the jacking point on the car didn't mesh properly and the crank handle didn't fit with jack! Glad I found out in my driveway.
b) The jacking point gave way a little when I jacked it up. THAT surprised me. The car is a near pristine 1990 745 with no rust at all that I can see. Surely the rocker panel area is not rusting out! The car is galvanized and hasn't seen all that many winters.

Anyone have a jacking point go on a clean 740?

Bill
