Intermittent windshield fogging problem 200

(1) Mist. the blower has a turbine wheel blower at each end, right and left. You may have a small heater core leak very close to one end, which would make fog on that side but not the other.

(2) Air path. Ther is a box channel that runs across the car, which the grille below the windshield feeds into. There is a metal panel that you see looking into the grille which is mounted above the bottom of the channel, so the air can go around it and into the climate control system, but not (most of) the leaves.

The box channel extends the width of the car, then goes downward ahead of the front door hinges. At the bottom there it goes to the rear and is the box section of the rocker panel. The bottom of that part is a weld seam, and the weld is open in 4 or 5 places for drainage. Look along the bottom next time you are under the car for an oil change.

Poke something thin up each drain to be sure it is clear of debris.

To really clean out the stuff, it is necessary to pull the carpets, round rocker panel access hole covers and the lower seat belt mounting plates so as to get a vacuum cleaner hose tip inside the rocker panel. Allow a day.

If your car is parked such that it accumulates leaves, pine needles, etc, consider getting a grill or vent cover from IPD. They are about $50 including shipping, look good, and work. BTDT. They have one type for 1985 and older, another for the 1986+ body style. Goto www.ipd.com
