Which cars are pre-wired for side signal??? S90-V90 1998

ipd sells the side marker signals for the front fenders. They also sell a wiring kit for $40 more. I asked which cars are prewired and which ones need the kit and they said "We have no idea, it's random, you just have to check."

This strikes me as very odd. I am sure that Volvo did not randomly pre-wire cars. There must have been a reason, either certain markets or certain models, or certain options packages, or???

Does anyone know how to determine which cars have this. Do I really have to pry my side Volvo badge off and look inside and what am I looking for? Can I check by unbolting something under the hood? The truth is out there! Thanks!
