Seat Foam Replacement 1988 240 200

The foam in the driver's side seat back of my '88 240 is pretty misshapen and I'm thinking about replacing it. The upholstery itself is good, just the foam inside is messed up.

I see that IPD sells the seat foam but the price seems outrageous for a hunk of foam rubber.

After looking around the local pick-and-pull in Shoemakersville, PA this weekend, I found a few possible candidates for donor foam. I think I will go back this week and pick one up.

My questions:

1. Will the seat foam from a 1984 240 fit my 1988 seat? They look the same but I cant tell for sure.

2. What about a 1979 240?

3. Can the passenger seat foam be used to replace the driver's seat foam?

4. Has anyone else attempted this project? Any known pitfalls or suggestions?

Thanks,

Greg P.
