140 / 240 body similarities? 140-160

Just curious, would the front sheetmetal (fenders, hood, etc.) of a 140 fit a 240 without too much trouble- like a '78 for example? The cars look pretty close from the windshield back. Or is this a case of looks being deceiving? Also, I read a post a while back about a 240 > 140 door transplant... reply stated that '76-'77 doors would fit, if I remember correctly. Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but 240 doors '76-'93 look the same to me, aside from updates in trim?
