turbo conversions: can't we all just get along?

i have read all the posts made previously regarding the conversion of a n/a 700-series to turbo. the general consensus is that they are too time-consuming, complicated and pricey as compared to just buying a turbo car or swapping a turbo motor out. this is logical, of course, but...

i have access to a junkyard turbo car with all necessary components. my engine (B230F) currently runs beautifully with only 117K thus far, and it isnt that short on power. i can get the turbo, manifold, intercooler, airbox and associated hoses and lines for less than $100. of course, i understand that the parts arent guaranteed to work right...

my question is for those who have actually done this conversion and really know the necessary changes. is it really all that difficult? can i do it in an afternoon? i read that the boost needs to be reduced due to higher compression in the n/a engine - how involved is that? if someone could just break it down - what has to be done vs. what can be done and where i can expect to find difficulty, i would be much obliged.
