Headlights don't work 200 1979

Yesterday the headlights stopped working on my 79 245. I figured it was the headlight relay under the hood, but after fiddling with the headlight knob on the dash I found out that if I get the knob in JUST the right postion that the headlights will come on. However, one bump and the headlights will turn off again. Also, if I pull the stalk the high beams will still come on. So, does this still sound like a problem with the relay, or with the switch itself? I've never heard of the switch inside the car going bad. I haven't had time to check the relay itself yet, and just wanted some opinions before I try to fix the situation.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Just the headlights aren't working, the rest of the lights (parking, tail lights, etc..) still work just fine at any of the switch positions, which confuses me more....
Thanks.
