catalytic converter in 1982 240 dl 200 1982

We moved to Canada in 1984 with our California-spec 1983 244, and after many years needed a new exhaust system. I got it at the Volvo dealer with their lifetime warranty. They quoted (1992 or so) about $250C for the system that came stock on the Canadian models of that year (no Cat) and around $700C+ if they had to import the US-spec system with the Cat. I went for the Cdn system which had the headpipes siamese into a single pipe back to the front muffler...no provision for a Cat.

Now back in California, I replaced the 10-yr-old rusty Cdn system with pieces from FCP, including a Cat. and passed smog without problems. Cost was around $230US.
