Stalling and odd engine performance 700

My car stalled at a light the other day. I was able to restart it 15 seconds later. I drove up the hill, about 50 feet from the light. The engine was at 2500 RPMs and my foot was steady on the gas. The, the RPMs suddenly dropped to about 1200. There was no transmission shift. I tried pushing the pedal in more just to keep up with traffic but to no avail. I pulled off at the next exit, let the car run for a minute, drove it around the parking lot, and then drove it away. It acted fine for the next two days. Today, I went out to start my car and it ran extremely rough. That may have been because it was pretty low on gas and I don't think the two are related. Do you think that the first incident was a temporary hiccup in the system (air bubble, minor vapor lock, etc.) or a bigger problem?
