Crank seal installation tool advice 200 1993

First off ... great site with great advice.
Secondly, I feel like an idiot posting this question! But here goes...
I have purchased the crank seal installation tool, but am having a difficult time understanding how to properly use it. Do I press the seal onto the tool by using the aluminum end and bolt supplied to press the seal onto the tool, then use the assembled installer and seal to insert the seal (minus the aluminum end and bolt)? or... Am I just overly thick in the head and am hopeless?
I also have he cam installer and it is somewhat intuitive, start the seal onto the cam and just tighten the bolt at the end of the installer, which press the seal in.

thanks in advance;
randy
