740 in tank pump in 240 200

I know I've heard of using a 140 pre pump as an upgrade to the stock 240 pump, but I've searched in vain to find which model to use. I know that the pick up must be shortened to accept the large 740 pump but thats about all I can recall. If anyone else has done this I'd apperciate your help.

I replaced the pump about a year agao and it has already quit on me and I'm afraid that if I run on only one pump any longer I'll be replacing the more expensive pump. Thanks in advance. Adam.
