Harness advice 200

So I'm going to make a long drive tomorrow with the pretense of buying a 85 244 that I saw on the side of the road with a FS sign in it. The price seems pretty good considering its appearance and list of things done in the last year. However, just got off the phone with the owner (owned for only a year or so) and he states that the engine temp reads high. Sound's like he's replaced everything but the harness and even took the car to a radiator shop to have the temp varified as normal when all else failed. Probably should have been the first step right?

I don't have the garage space in the winter to take on a major project. Thus I'm wondering two things.

1)How much does a good shop usually charge to change the harness? $500, $800 or what?

2)If the erroneous temp reading is the only current sign of harness failure should I be able to drive the car through the next four months until I can change it on my own?

Thanks a bunch!

Ron
