Checking out a 745 turbo...suggestions please 700

I've come across a nice looking '89 745 Turbo Wagon for sale and am interested in anything you guys might have to say about this model, year and engine.
I've owned two '86 240s and currently own a '94 850. I know the 240s pretty well and enjoyed working on them, so I would like to know whether the 740 offers the same potential.
Basically, this car is being offered cheap, and I've convinced my two roommates that it'd be fun to pick up the car, fix any problems, make it look really nice and sell it for a profit, in the mean time using it for its pure utility (we're art students).
This would be the first automatic I've ever bought, so any help on what to look for while driving would be useful as well.
