Crank Sensor and cruise control 700 1990

I have a 1990 740 turbo and I had a problem with the car not starting several months ago. I trouble shot this to a bad crank sensor. I ordered a new one and got it in. Noticed that the old one had a yellow stripe and the new one had a white stripe, or was it the other way around??? any ways it was old vs new just like some of the other post here describe. My problem is now after replacing the crank sensor the cruise control no longer works. my problem is is that i'm not sure if i knocked off a wire or something but doesn't the cruise use the crank sensor to sence engine speed and is the white strip vs yellow stripe a possible culprit.

I know if I pull a vacuum on the cruise bellows it works ok. Are there any better discription of the signals besides the very poor books that I have. Any suggestions are welcome.
