Center Brake Light 93 240 wagon 200 1993

The center brake light on my 93 240 wagon is not operating due to the wire being severed in the passenger side tailgate hinge. The two ends of the broken wire can clearly be seen. I changed the bulb before I discovered the break. My garage said it could take 4 hours to repair this, involving remaoval of the headliner, harness, etc, and it seems they don't believe its worth the cost of repair. How difficult is this to replace? I'm sick of the brake out light going on everytime I brake. Any help would be appreciated.
