Making it faster 700 1986

Hello, I have got a 740 GLE estate 2.3 litre carb version and was wondering if I can make it faster and if so how. The car is totally stock and has covered 130,000 miles approximately. What would the cheaper options and easier options be? I am located in the UK. I would of posted in the V8 section but it seems very quiet. Many thanks James.
