Take out the distributor and take all the easy things off. Rotor, trigger contacts, Perlux gizmo. Clean it with something like mineral spirits or carb cleaner. Be very thorough here. Spray out wiht compressed air. Those things from Office Max to clean your keyboard are a lot cheaper than an air compressor and work fine for this type of thing. Use while lithium loob between the advance plates. When you look in the top there is a silver plate that you attach the Perlux box to. Right under is another. There are 1 or 2 little holes you can spray the lube in. They are not deep at all, like 1/32nd". Wipe off any excess. Also make sure the little oil cup on the side has clean oil in it. I use sewing machine oil for that. Distributors are amazing little things when you think about it. All they control and all. They sould be well taken care of.
Anyway, wish you emailed 20 minutes ago. After reading Rhys' post I went out and looked at my car and it had a decel valve. I could have taken a photo. Anyway, to check for yours, take off the big hose from the end of the intake manifold and peek on. It is a little round thing on the bottom half of the throttle plate.
To clean the throttle contacts I use a pink eraser. More abrasive than the white ones and they don't flake as much. Make sure you get all the crumbs out. Another use for the keyboard cleaner!
