heater fan and resister pack replaced - only runs on defrost 700 1986

Hi BB

I have a 1986 760 Turbo and the heater fan motor was working on all settings, but squealing a lot, so I replaced it recently. The fan worked after replacement, but only on the defrost setting (high). I've read on here that this means the resistor pack needs replacing, so I just did that too. Now, the fan worked perfectly for a few minutes of testing, but then stopped working on the lower settings and is back to just working on the defrost setting (it appears the resistor pack must be blown again). Am I missing something?? I'm not too happy about this because the resistor pack was quite pricey ($72 CDN).

Any suggestions for finding out the problem here?
