Small Accident,;grill and hood replaced and now back of hood not flush at all with body 200 1991

Hi all,

Well it had to happen. Just when I'd gotten the car painted and most of the gremlins ironed out, I go and crash into a BMW x5. I was only going 5 mph but sustained a lot of visible damage. My lights and grill hit the BMW's bumper, hence I had to replace the grill, the metal piece above the radiator and my hood since it crumpled.

I just got it back from the body shop and the hood is about an inch higher than the fenders at the back where it meets the cowl. The body shop tells me I need new hinges in order to fix this.

My hinges look fine so my question is, would the hinges be damaged enough to cause this to happen? Even if to the untrained eye they look to be fine? Is there a way to adjust the hinges to PULL the hood down deeper into the engine bay, i.e. is it just a matter of an adjustment problem like you can do with the trunklid?
