Clogged Fuel Pump? 120-130 1964

It's the kind that's permanently sealed. I just took it out and sprayed carb cleaner in both ends and shook it...a lot of sandy/rusty crap came out. I moved the lever and it seemed to pump fine. I installed and the car started and ran for a little while and then died, now it won't restart. Either the pump isn't creating enough pressure or I have a clog somewhere. The clear plasic filter after the pump has fuel in it (it's filled) so fuel is getting there. I replaced most of the fuel lines and it didn't take long for the new filter to look dirty (10 minutes of idling). This fuel starvation problem is driving me nuts. I'm ging to take apart and clean the SU's tomorrow and add another filter before the pump like you suggested and see what happens.
