The 'newer' starters: observations 700 1990

Replaced son's 90 740 T starter. This is the small bodied newer style starter. The car's cranking abilities were becomming stranger as time went by. Even replaced cables, and electrical portion of the key, but problem seemed to get worse. Great new battery too. Starter turned over slowly or not at all at times. Not always consistant. Also, it did the hesitation on a repeat try on starting. The new starter is so totally different and twists the engine at least twice to three times faster. What also is interesting is our 91 and 93 Volvo's also show this same trait. Perhaps another Volvo wear item.

Just an observation which may help in the strange starting category.
