Rear Wiper issues 700

1990 740 TurboWagon, bought it about a month ago. As I've been sorting through items that it needs, one that currently has me stumped is the rear wiper. It will not park after use, and, when used on the intermittant setting, it acts really wierd. It moves about 5 inches and stops, waits a few seconds, moves onther 5 inches, stops, waits, 5 inches, etc. It'll reverse direction when it completes its sweep, but does the whole stop-start-wait thing in the other direction. I've gone into the FAQ, and made sure the arm is aligned correctly at rest, but this sounds like a motor or relay issue. Thoughts??
