Bad FPR?? 200 1993

Ok, I keep religious MPG records for the brick. Was getting an average of 20MPG in town. 22-25 on highway depending on wind direction. :)

Recently I had been smelling fuel, intermitently (once a week, maybe). I always blamed it on the beater two cars in front. However, when I calc'd the MPG on Friday I was at 15 MPG for the tank. I checked and double checked... 15!!

Possibly related problem is a cold start rough running. It's been that way since I've owned it (1.5 yrs) Starts fine, idles fine, but on first press of gas pedal it stutters, shakes, wants to stall. I push harder it smooths out and then she runs fine.

So, is my FPR going...gone??? Is it some other obvious sounding problem?

I have cleaned throttle body, ICV, cleaned AMM contacts, looked for holes in the accordian, fuel filter is 1yr old, new plugs, flame trap is squeaky clean, vaccume lines are as checked as I can do, etc.

I will be doing cap/rotor/wires once the box from FCP arrives.

Also known issue is a relativly small hole in the header pipe. Can't be welded, and I'm just waiting on the $$ to replace it.

Thanks for any thoughts!!! (yes, I have read all FAQs I can find)
