rear shock replacement 900 1997

Since the self leveling rear shocks are too expensive I want to explore the option of using regular shocks and changeing the springs as per the article in the FACs. My local shop can do this, but what shocks and springs does he order? From a 940, 740 or older 960 or 850? Also will the springs and shocks from a turbo model give me better handling as I guess they should be much stiffer to suit the sportier car.

Any suggestions on brands as I may change the front strut cartriges as well. KYB seems to be the most popular here in Canada as the European stuff is really overpriced.

Thanks
