Intermittent fuel pump relay failure??

My kid's 86 244 has been stalling on him intermittently, maybe once or twice a week. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it, except that it is never when the car is cold and the car will restart and run just fine after a few minutes.

I fianlly got deserate and took it to a very reputable indy Volvo shop. If you ask around North San Diego County you will hear a lot of "Take it to Volvoworks, George will fix it" They had the car for two full days but couldn't get the darned thing to stall. They know a lot of what it isn't, but not what it is. The mechanic mentioned that it could be bad solder in the fuel pump relay getting hot and causing an open and then being OK once the solder solidifies again.

What do you think? Does this sound viable. I don't solder (Sorry, Dan), but may get a repalcement relay out of the junkyard to test the theory. If the car stalls, immediatly put the other relay in and see if that solves the problem.
